Crap machine
Anyone have a spare Formaker?
My screen has stopped working after experimenting with it to make the V6 hot end to work properly.

Hi Mikael,
what do you mean by spare Formaker?
My formaker nearly burned down last week but i hope it is ony the power supply that caused this problem. My heatbed also looks terrible and burnt so i will have to look for a new one also. Or are you looking for a complete machine to buy?
Regards
Tobi

Re: Crap machine
Hi Tobi,
I currently only need the Screen since mine has died and is making smoke.
Problem is, the screen is Soldered to cables that in turn are soldered to another board that in turn is connected to the crappy (cant even update the firmware) Mightyboard clone.
So to get the machine working I need a new screen.
I have been unable to get around this problem, even with the USB connector.
All USB software I have tested are unable to move the X axis for some reason, yet the X Axis seems to work fine.
I am just about to replace the full guts of the machine with something else but I wanted to check the forum is some one was doing the same then perhaps I could buy their screen and give it one last go.

Re: Crap machine
Hi,
i will take a new power supply home today, if this does not work for my Mightyboard i will also have to replace the complete electronics than you may take my screen but right now i hope to get it back to work.
Do you know what type of board the Laser-Board is? I think it is mounted below the Screen Control board..
I will take a look on the Screen again probably i can help you with an exchange!

Hi Tobi,
Lets hope you get your machine working.
If I am able to get mine up and running then I will post a guide on how to update the Formaker with E3D v6 hot ends.
I have had a very long process of getting this to work and have replaced many parts in order to have anything at all print.
I was just about to test the final adjustments to the printing profiles when the screen died on me.
Lets hope CTC answers my many emails begging for spare parts.

Re: Crap machine
Hi Mikael,
i got a new powersupply and after all rewiring I got my machine back on running. The heated bed looked terrible like something burnt on it, probably that caused the failure?
During the exchange I switched the thermistor to a 100k and now the heatbed temperature reading is perfect but I have a problem:
The heat bed is not heating up any more, may be you can help me with that? Is it a resistor on the board or on the heat bed that may cause this?
Sorry again but now I still need my screen

Re: Crap machine
Guys, I eliminated all the Formaker software and built a Arduino controller to run everything except the I using the original power supply to run the stepper motors. This may be your best solution.

Sounds good, i wanted to do this as well to get a grip on all the settings.
Are you able to control the laser with the arduino board as well?

Re: Crap machine
Yes, I used an output to turn on and off the laser from the Arduino.
I looked at a lot of ideas from Hackster IO and Instructables to get the ideas and then a experimented with differentsoftware. I am still looking for better software.
I probably will sell the Formmaker as parts and build new hardware.
If you are any one else is interested I will sell it for $500 US but will keep the CNC power supply, motor and the laser.
