Included software first impression
I just finished installing all the included software and my initial thoughts leave a lot to be desired. Included instruction on the installation procedure are not very user friendly. If you can read Chinese great if not, well there are some issues.
First you must have Python installed on your computer. You can use the included Python version or get the latest 2.7 version online.
Next be sure in unzip the software on the SD card to your hard drive as it runs much faster off your hard drive. Look at the folders included. You may use the the software.exe file in the root folder or just install what you want from each sub folder.
Next the drivers will not install on Windows 10, but work OK in Windows 7. I did not try Windows 8 or 8.1.
I installed all the software so I could try it all and follow what was necessary to install. The default install locations are OK, but I changes mine to a folder called Formaker so I could see and what files were installed and be able to delete or reinstall if necessary.
There are a lot of configuration setting on all the software that needs to be set correctly for a correct D print, CNC cut, or engraving. I am searching for better software for beginners and advanced users. I am mostly interested in laser engraving and CNC machining. I will try 3D print much later.
Thats it for now. Much more later.

Thanks for the guidence. I too found it difficult but certainly not impossible. I printed using Makerware first to some success but bought Simplify3d on recommendation. I too recommend it. Being new to 3d printing, I am learning at a great rate and enjoying it!
I have yet to do any laser or CNC.

I had a lot of problems to install the drivers and programs on win 8.
to install the drivers on win 8, delete the numerical verification of drivers.
I could not install makerware because no install Win 8. I download the latest version of makerbot, makerbot Desktop 3.9
I do not know if it works. I'll test tomorrow

Re: Included software first impression
I just received my formaker and doing the sample print right now.
I heard a lot of good stuff about Simplify 3D for 3dPrinting applications so if someone of you already has it running could you please share your configuration file?
On the first thing i tried with simplify the machine did not home to the zero point and startet printing into the air. After the print it remained in the finishing position, not driving the table down. Anyone can help me with some configuration for simplify3D?

Hi Tobiwan,
I use Simplify3d with success. Being new to everything in the world of 3d printing I am not sure my config file will be of use. In any case, it is just a slightly modified version of the CTC 3d printer config. Be sure to select the CTC printer as your printer in the Configuartion Assistant under the Help tab and go from there. For PLA, I adjusted the default temperature from 230 to 205deg and set the bed temp to 60. You can add rafts, support, resolution etc. Do this in the Edit Process Settings area. I have used the Simplify3d website to learn everything I know so far. It has plenty of good information to improve your prints and setup your program. I am a very happy cutomer even though some of my prints are yet to be perfected. My config file changes with every print as I learn. The Basic CTC 3d Printer config should work. Lots to learn and its all wonderful! If this fails, I am not sure what your problem with home posi etc is. I have the latest Simplify3d update. Check that yours is too. Good luck!
