ReplicatorG Software: Translation/Config Needed
For reference, ReplicatorG is an open-source program and should be the best resource to go from a downloaded STL file, to an .x3g slice that we can send to our ForMakers.
For non-Windows users, it can be downloaded directly from replicat.org though it does not include a configuration for the Formaker out of the box.
I extracted what I believe to be the ForMaker config file (machines/CTC.xml) from the SD card's repliactorg-CTC.exe self-extracting ZIP file (which seems to be the Chinese-translated version of the software). The only problem is that the labels are in Chinese characters. Judging by the tools defined, I'm guessing the first one is the ForMaker, defining 2 extruders, and the second one may be for a different CTC product? Or perhaps for usage with a different head or single-filament prints. If CTC, or somebody that knows Chinese can confirm, that would be helpful.
I would upload the CTC.xml file here, but I apparently don't have file upload or even link-posting permissions yet...
ReplicatorG comes packaged with Skeinforge, another OSS, that does the actual slicing. The software comes with default profiles for several printers, including the Replicator and Thing-O-Matic, but i can't locate a profile for the ForMaker amongst CTC's files.
Has anyone located a Skeinforge profile for the ForMaker yet, or confirmed that one of the existing ones is compatible with our printer?

Re: ReplicatorG Software: Translation/Config Needed
I still haven't determined what the correct slicer settings are, but here is some more information on ReplicatorG and the ForMaker.
I renamed the devices "CTC A" (dual extruder) and "CTC B" in the CTC.xml file I mentioned previously. When you launch ReplicatorG, go to Machine->Device and Select "CTC A".
To connect directly to the printer via USB (prints can be sent directly to the printer in this manner without using the SD card, though I haven't tested it yet), go to Machine->Connection. For Linux, the Formaker shows up for me as "/dev/ttyACM0"
Click the 'Connect' icon (second to the right) to connect to the printer.
Choose "Control Panel" for controls to manually 'jog' the build platform (all Axis), temperature controls, and extruder options (speed and motor control).
WARNING: While the temperature readout in the Control Panel is correct, the target temperatures can also be set by the onboard controller, which can override what you set in the control panel.
At the moment, I'm performing my first print using the sample file on the SD card. The next step will be to print out something custom if I can determine the correct slicer settings.

Re: ReplicatorG Software: Translation/Config Needed
How is the config file working out for you, Digicrat?
I've been experimenting with some settings recently and thought, that I'm gonna check if somebody has done/found out more before me - and here you are . Can you share the ReplicatorG file, that you've found and modified?

Re: ReplicatorG Software: Translation/Config Needed
My understanding is that it should also work with the same settings as the Replicator2.
The file is found int he replicatorg distribution from CTC under the machines subdirectory. My modified file can be found at http://4maker.empireofgames.com/files/CTC.xml
I've been a bit overcommitted recently, so i haven't had much time to really play with it yet. By the end of the month I hope to have much more time to experiment, and do plan on documenting w/e I learn for my own reference, as well as posting it here for others.
